Can I point (i.e. redirect) a user to a different survey from an existing survey link?

You can set an existing survey link to point to a new survey, as long as you still have the survey that the original link points to.  For example, lets say you send out an email to a large number of users that has a link to a survey, but then need to change the survey but don't want to have to send out a new link.  In this case you want to set up a new survey and have the old link point to the new survey.  There are two ways to do this, depending on your setup:

If you have not yet created the new survey ...

  1. Open the old survey (the one where the current link points).
  2. Make your changes to the survey.  If you want to start from scratch, you can delete all the questions in the survey by following the steps in this topic: Deleting questions.
  3. Once you have finished the new survey, click Save.
  4. You will be prompted that the structure of your survey has changed.  Choose Save using a new name.
  5. Next you will be asked where the original survey link should point.  Choose New Survey.
  6. Enter a name for the new survey when prompted.  Make sure you choose a NEW name so you don't overwrite the original survey.
  7. When you finish, you will have a new survey with the original survey link.  You will still have your old survey and all responses, but your old survey will have been given a new survey link.

If you have already created the new survey ...

  1. Open the old survey (the one where the current link points).
  2. Delete all questions from the survey by following the steps in this topic: Deleting questions.  Click Add Question to add a new question to the survey.
  3. Choose Closing (with exit) from the Gallery.
  4. In the Closing message / New URL field, enter the survey link for your new survey.  If you do not already have the link you can generate it by using the Launch Wizard in your new survey and choosing I will instruct respondents to type an address into their browser.
  5. Check the Redirecting the respondent to the new URL radio button in the closing question.
  6. Click OK to create the closing question.  Your survey should now have only one question, your closing question which redirects to your new survey.
  7. Click Save to save the survey.
  8. You will be prompted that the structure of your survey has changed.  Choose Save using a new name.
  9. Next you will be asked where the original survey link should point.  Choose New Survey.
  10. Enter a name for the survey when prompted.  Make sure you don't overwrite the old survey.
  11. When you finish, you will have a survey with the original survey link, which redirects the user to your new survey.  You will still have your old survey and all responses, but your old survey will have been given a new survey link.
