Software Engineer - Custom Application Developer

Vanguard Software Corporation, a leading developer of enterprise decision support software, is seeking a highly-motivated Software Engineer to join our rapidly growing team as a custom application developer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing custom decision support applications using the Vanguard System, our cutting-edge business application development tool.  Projects will run the gamut in terms of size, complexity, industry, and functional area and range from small-scale rapid prototypes to complete Web-based decision support applications.  Projects may also cross-over into commercial product development for our next generation software.

Responsibilities:

• Develop custom decision support applications based on customer specifications
• Work closely with Vanguard business consultants and customers throughout project life-cycles (including requirements definition, design, development, testing, deployment, and support)
• Help prepare project plans and customer proposals
• Occasionally travel to customer sites
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• BA/BS in computer science, engineering, or related field
• 0-5 years of professional work experience
• US Citizen or Green Card holder

Required Skills and Prerequisites:

• Programming experience in C/C++
• Basic Web programming experience with HTML, JavaScript, CSS
• Basic database and SQL experience
• Knowledge of business modeling, simulation, or statistical analysis is a plus
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to understand the technical and business requirements of customer projects
• Ability to interact with both technical and non-technical customers
• Strong programming aptitude
• Entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to work in a dynamic environment
